Scream Pretty have embraced this trend with a selection of our own mismatched studs, and a growing collection of huggie hoops and chained studs.
Sophie Quy, buyer of fine jewellery at NET-A-PORTER says 'Pioneered by designers like Maria Tash, Anita Ko, and Yvonne Léon, there's no doubting that piercing is huge. This trend has led us to see a lot more single earrings, and earrings that can be worn alone or in multiples to create a beautiful delicate curated assortment in and around the ear.'
Maria Tash was the front runner of the tiny earring, multiple piercing trend, but it's been a runaway success with celebrities and fashion gurus, and now more and more of us are experimenting with extra piercings and diverse earring collections.
Scream Pretty have been thrilled by reviews for our affordable take on the trend. Here are some of the reviews from our notonthehighstreet.com store front, for our huggie hoops with clear stones.
Beautiful earrings, well made and great value
Perfect, just what I've been looking for. Maria Tash style without the price tag! Would love it if you'd make a rose gold version of these.
So pleased with these fab little earrings, the Maria Tash look but at a fraction of the cost. The earrings are quite small but this means they are perfect as an everyday 2nd hole earring. They are so perfect I'm thinking of buying another pair.
To create your own curated ear - first forget everything you ever knew about jewellery 'rules'. Earrings shouldn't be a pair, mismatched colours are fine, one shoulder grazing chandelier earring balanced with one tiny earring - nailed it! Why not even try an ear climber (fixes up the ear rather than down) and a huggie hoop in your helix piercing (upper ear)
A “curated ear” is for the woman who wants to show off her individuality, and bravery (some of these piercings hurt!) . The new rules of jewellery, be brave be different and have fun.

One of the hottest jewellery trends this year and surprisingly wearable - Rainbows will cheer you, and everyone looking at you, right up. With gender politics more relevant than ever, this trend is also a way to literally show your colours and support inclusiveness and positivity.
That’s a pretty powerful incentive to work this trend into your jewellery wardrobe.
Playful, fun and fashionable; this season the rainbow look is nailed by Dress Like a Mum's Zoe de Pass (pictured above in the Scream Pretty Rainbow Bar Ring ) and Stylist Helen Canning Ford (AKA Cocomama) pictured in a fab Bax and Bay rainbow T.
Even Gucci have updated their iconic trainer in rainbow tones.
Forget being brave, this is actually a really easy trend to incorporate – a little bit of multi coloured jewellery, literally works with EVERYTHING!
We like to team a bit of rainbow pave, like these huggies and open circle neckace with a jacket covered in patches or a multi coloured floral maxi – undeniably cheerful, and delivers a lots of style without having to worry about being too matchy matchy.
If like us, monochrome dominates your winter wardrobe - a bit of rainbow bling encourages us to throw some bright tops and trousers into the mix.
To quote one of our favourite trend authorities Maria Doulton of The Jewellery Editor
‘Diamonds may be the most valuable gem, but the rise of coloured stones seems to be unstoppable. Beyond the traditional trio of rubies, emeralds and sapphires, we are witnessing a rainbow revolution in which previously overlooked stones are now in the limelight’
For fall 2017, the Ashish UK runway collection was layered in multicolor sequins like this incredible jumper below. They teamed this with multi-coloured wrestling masks on the catwalk at London Fashion Week too - but this may be a detail we'll skip!
May your season be colourful and bright!
