FAQs

Here is a list of our Frequently Asked Questions. If you can't find the answer you require please email info@screampretty.com

Our Jewellery

  • Is Scream Pretty jewellery nickel free?
Yes. All our jewellery is nickel free.

  • Who designs the jewellery?

Around 60 per cent of our jewellery is designed by the company’s founder, Lucy Lee and her sister Jessica Pearce. Some individual pieces are curated from our trusted suppliers because they are gorgeous and compliment the character of the rest of the Scream Pretty range!

  • What is Scream Pretty jewellery made from?
All Scream Pretty earrings are made from sterling silver, and plated with either rhodium, silver or gold.
Necklaces, bracelets and rings can be made from silver or brass, and plated with rhodium or gold. Each product page will specify what a product is made from.

  • Where does the jewellery come from?
We design our jewellery collections in the UK and work with craftspeople in Thailand, Bali and India to bring our designs to life! We work very closely with the designers at each of our suppliers, and visit them once a year to manage the the NPD process and quality assurance. We ensure that all our suppliers trade in line with our ethics policy (below).

  • Hallmarking – why do some items have a hallmark and others do not?
By law all sterling silver items over 7.8 grams made in sterling silver should be hallmarked. We hallmark all our silver that is over this weight with the Birmingham assay office. All our 9 carat gold is also hallmarked by the assay office. We use the hallmark of our sister company Lily Charmed.
  • Why do my gemstones not look exactly like the photo?
We often use natural gemstones, which are formed over thousands of years. The colour varies from stone to stone. We try to match the colour as best as possible, but variations will occur.

  • Can I return earrings?
Sorry, we don't allow the return of earrings as they are intimate items. We would only provide a refund for earrings should there be a manufacturing fault.
  • How do I clean my jewellery?
We recommend using silver polishing cloths which can be purchased from most supermarkets. Unfortunately, silver does tarnish and a quick rub with a silver cloth will help prevent this. Do keep the silver cloth in the packet it arrives in because the cloth is impregnated with silver anti-tarnish power and will dry out with exposure to the air.
Whilst all Scream Pretty pieces come in our signature packaging, these are for gift-giving purposes only, and not for storing your jewellery. We recommend storing unworn jewellery inside an airtight bag in your jewellery box to minimise tarnishing, which can occur when it comes into contact with natural elements.
  • What tarnishes silver?
Silver is tarnished by sulphur-containing materials, particularly hydrogen sulphide (H2S). The most common tarnish-causing elements are wool, felt, food (eggs, onions, and mayonnaise), fossil fuels, rubber bands, latex gloves, carpet padding, and certain paints. Tarnishing is accelerated in a humid environment. Body oils and moisturisers can also cause tarnishing, so remove your silver jewellery before you bathe.
Clean your jewellery once you see a soft yellow colour on your silver (the start of tarnishing). If you leave your jewellery until it is black, you may need a professional clean.
  • Why can’t I return an engraved item?
Unless your engraved or monogrammed jewellery is faulty we can not except returns as we can’t resell it. This does not effect your statutory rights.
