Our Jewellery

How and Where is the jewellery Made?
We design our jewellery collections in the UK and work with crafts people in Bali, Thailand and Italy to bring our designs to life! We work very closely with our suppliers, and visit them once a year (when it is Covid safe!) to manage the new product development process and quality assurance. We ensure that all our suppliers adhere to strict policies to ensure the well being of their staff as well as being regularly independently audited
What is your Ethical policy?
We know you care about where your jewellery comes from, and that good business practice is what you expect of us. We’re proud to say that we’re uncompromising in our commitment to nurturing long-term relationships with suppliers who treat their workers fairly. It’s the company-wide mission to work alongside our global supply chain in safeguarding and improving the working conditions and rights of the workers in the workshops that supply our products. We’ve therefore adopted the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) base code, which states the following key principles:
- Employment is freely chosen.
- Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining are respected.
- Working conditions are safe and hygienic.
- Child labour shall not be used.
- Living wages are paid.
- Working hours are not excessive.
- No discrimination is practised.
- Regular employment is provided.
- No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed.
We’ll continue to work with our suppliers and strive to meet the provisions set out by the ETI, so you can always wear your Scream Pretty designs with confidence.
Who Designs Scream Pretty Jewellery?
Around 90 per cent of our jewellery is designed by the company’s founders, Lucy Lee and her sister Jessica Pearce.
Some individual pieces are curated from our trusted suppliers because they are gorgeous and compliment the character of the Scream Pretty range!
What is Scream Pretty Jewellery Made From?
All Scream Pretty earrings, and ear cuffs are made from recycled sterling silver, and plated with either rhodium (silver finish), 18 Carat gold or rose gold. Necklaces, bracelets and rings can be made from recycled sterling silver or brass, and plated with rhodium or gold. Each product page will specify individual product materials.
What is 925 Sterling Silver?
Sterling Silver or 925 silver is the same thing. The 925 represents 92.5% pure silver which is mixed with other alloys such as copper to give it strength. 100% silver is very soft. All our sterling silver pieces are stamped with the 925 mark
How do I figure out my Ring size?
Let's face it, not many of us know our ring size for each finger! Please refer to our sizing guide for rings on each ring product page or you can use a thin strip of paper or string to measure the diameter of your chosen finger to help size your perfect ring. If you are between sizes, we recommend going up a size, rather than down.
What is your Packaging Made From?
We use gift boxes made with FSC certified cardboard. FSC is an international organization dedicated to promoting responsible forestry, and ensuring the highest environmental and social standards.
We have options at check out for
- Minimal Packaging
- Standard Packaging
- Luxe Gift Packaging (for an additional Fee)
What is Hallmarking?
In the UK there is a legal requirement to add a Hallmark (Metal Stamp mark) to all precious metals over a certain weight.
All items crafted with Sterling Silver over 7.8 grams are hallmarked for Scream Pretty by the Birmingham Assay Office.
Silver jewellery below this weight do not need to be hallmarked but instead carry the 925 stamp
Hallmarking protects consumers from buying fake items that claim to be made from precious metals.
As the Assay office tests each piece for purity before adding the company mark ,and their own mark of assurance.
The Hallmark consists of 3 marks. 1. The Makers Mark
2. Metal and Fineness Mark (925 for silver)
3. The Assay Office Mark.
There is no legal requirement in the USA for hallmarking – but the marks on our jewellery can assure you of the quality and composition of Scream Pretty pieces.
Can I buy single earrings?
We sell most of our earrings as pairs, however some styles are sold as single earrings.
All ear cuffs and ear crawlers are sold as single earrings.
Please see the product pages for further details.
Help I have a metal allergy!
None of our jewellery contains Nickel, which causes the vast majority or metal allergies.
We are working with the Assay Office to obtain an AnchorCert certificate, to reassure our customers, of the hypoallergenic nature of all our jewellery
What is Gold and Rhodium plating??
Gold plating is when jewellery is covered with a layer of gold over another type of metal.
We use 18 Carat gold to plate our jewellery. Gold plating may fade over time and with wear.
Rhodium is more expensive than gold, and is super hard wearing AND doesn’t tarnish or fade. It gives your jewellery a strong durable finish, which should help it last and look great for a long time. We use Rhodium plating on most of our earrings and necklaces.
See individual product pages for details.

How to Take Care of your Jewellery
Scream Pretty jewellery should be worn every day, don’t keep it for ‘best’! Here are our top tips for making your jewellery stay gorgeous.
Jewellery Storage
Storing your jewellery correctly is the best way to assure longevity! When storing your jewellery, keep your pieces separated to avoid scratching, and store them in airtight bags or containers which helps to limit the oxidisation process. Whilst all Scream Pretty pieces come in our signature gift boxes, these are for display and gifting purposes only, and should not be used for storing your jewellery for any length of time.
Avoid placing unworn jewellery in direct contact with other jewellery items, as this can increase risk of tarnishing, especially when stored with costume jewellery.
Why Does Silver Tarnish?
Silver is tarnished by sulphur-containing materials, which occur naturally and are present in the air especially where humidity is high. Body oils and moisturisers can also cause tarnishing so remove your silver jewellery before you bathe. Clean your jewellery once you see a soft yellow colour on your silver (the start of tarnishing). If you leave your jewellery until it is black, you may need a professional clean, or purchase a silver dip.
Most Scream Pretty Jewellery is Rhodium plated, which reduces tarnishing.
Sterling Silver Jewellery
Silver Jewellery will oxidise (tarnish) over time if it is not cleaned regularly or stored appropriately. We recommend cleaning your pieces with a silver polishing cloth, or for more intricate designs, a soft toothbrush and washing up liquid to keep them looking bright.
Gold Plated Jewellery
Our gold plated items look gorgeous, and to keep them this way we recommend always removing your rings when washing hands, applying lotion or doing heavy work.
Never wear your gold plated jewellery when bathing or swimming. It’s a good idea to always put on your plated jewellery last, after applying makeup, hairspray and perfumes.
Gold plating will wear over time, so treating it well – will make it last so much longer.
Rhodium Plated Jewellery
Rhodium is more expensive than gold, and is super hard wearing AND it doesn’t tarnish or fade. It gives your jewellery a strong durable finish, which should help it last and look great for a long time. To keep your rhodium plated pieces looking fresh, store separately, Scream Pretty find zip lock bags a great solution for storage.
Pearls and Opals
To maintain the lustre of pearls and Opals, wipe clean with a soft cloth. Pearls love to be worn, their finish will improve with wear as they gain lustre from the oils in your skin.
Please always remove before swimming, bathing and adding perfume.
Scream Pretty use freshwater pearls, baroque pearls and occasionally glass pearls. We uses synthetic opals, these are a high value stone, as they are chemically identical to a natural opal, but more hard wearing and consistent in colour and quality. Clean with a soft brush and water.
Please see individual product pages for details.
Cubic Zirconia
Is an inexpensive diamond like stone, a synthetic stone which is hard and durable and can be coloured.
It is a man made mineral made of zirconium dioxide and means you can add sparkle without the expense of diamonds.
Clean with a light detergent and a small brush. With smaller stone settings constant wear may dull the stones as dirt accumulates around the stone a gentle clean, often will keep your stones sparkling.
