What is the difference between a hoop earring and a huggie earring?
Size and fit! The main difference between a hoop earring and a huggie is their size and fit. Hoop earrings are typically larger and hang slightly below the ear, creating space between the ear and the earring. Huggies, on the other hand, are smaller and fit closely around the earlobe, with little to no gap between the earring and your ear.
Can you wear huggie earrings in a cartilage piercing?
Yes. Our 7mm hoops are made for cartilage, and mini huggies suit a helix or smaller ears, tragus or rook piercing. Standard sizes fit first and second lobe piercings, as well as helix. Large huggies are built for lobe and conch. Match the hoop diameter to the piercing you're wearing it in.
When can you wear huggie earrings after a new piercing?
Wait until the piercing has fully healed: usually 6 to 8 weeks for a new lobe piercing, or up to 4 months for cartilage. Once healed, huggie earrings are easy to put in and comfortable to keep in, which makes them a solid first hoop.
Are huggie earrings the same as clicker or sleeper earrings?
Mostly, yes. “Clicker” describes the hinge itself, the same click-shut mechanism every Scream Pretty huggie uses, so a clicker hoop and a huggie hoop are the same earring by two different names. “Sleeper” traditionally means a thinner, plainer hoop worn to keep a fresh piercing open, so it fits our simplest polished huggies best; for the large or stone-set styles, “huggie” or “clicker” is the more accurate name. Either way, we're not precious about what you call it.
