Galentine's Day started as a episode title in season 2 of Parks and Recreation that first aired in 2010 when Leslie Knope (played by Amy Poehler), throws a party for her girlfriends. The made-up event was such a genius idea, we've adopted it into real life.
In Knope's own words, “Oh it's only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies".
